My GOD help that little baby. What a cold world this little one was born into. Have Mercy!
NEWAYGO, Mich. (WOOD) — The teen who left her newborn on the side of a dirt road in Newaygo County last summer admitted to fourth-degree child abuse.
The girl admitted responsibility in family court earlier this week and is expected to have a disposition hearing in late April.
Newaygo County prosecutors originally charged her with one count of child abandonment and one count of second-degree child abuse.
The newborn girl was discovered the morning of July 28 by a man walking his dog along Marion Road near Diamond Lake, north of White Cloud. Her umbilical cord was still attached. Court documents say the baby had been there about five hours. The temperature was about 55 degrees.
The baby survived and remains in Department of Human Services custody. Both of the child’s parents are scheduled to have a post-termination review in June.
